This is a review of Turning Pointe
by Katherine Locke. This will be a short review because this is a novella and
not a full length novel.
We are introduced to Zed and Aly in this book. Zed and
Aly are two young ballet dancers who have bright careers in ballet ahead of
them. They have been best friends since they were children and are now dance
partners. They are just coming off a wildly successful European dance tour when
they get the news that Aly is pregnant. After a doctor’s appointment, they are
involved in a tragic car accident where both Aly and Zed end up in intensive
care fighting for their lives. Once Aly awakens she learns that she has lost
her baby and that Zed’s life is still hanging in the balance. She goes to see
him in the ICU despite his parents not wanting her there. She sees Zed
intubated and with his jaw wired shut and still fighting for his life and she
vows to be there for him.
My recommendation: This is a must
read before reading Second Positon and Finding Center which are the two books
that follow this one.
